For our next meeting, on April 3, 2013, we will read to p. 381 of Volume Four, Part Two, Chapter Two of Sodom and Gomorrah, in the Modern Library (Moncrieff / Kilmartin / Enright) edition.
There is a line break on this page that should be easy to find. The sentence that precedes this break reads:
"A far from scrupulous politician to boot, who, with all the lofty contempt for a thoroughbred nobleman, did not hesitate to play both ends against the middle when he felt like it, and remained left of centre until his dying day."
The sentence that follows the break reads:
"At Saint-Pierre-des-Ifs we were joined by a glorious girl who, unfortunately, was not a member of the little group."
En Français:
A Saint-Pierre-les-Ifs monta une splendide jeune fille qui, malheureusement, ne faisait as partie du petit groupe.
